President Trump and the War for Freedom

The United States of America has a new president, Donald Trump. His climb to the presidency has brought to the forefront the conflict for freedom within America and essentially the Western world. Donald Trump was not elected because he was an outstanding candidate, he was elected as the best of two bad options. Almost 63 million people were more afraid of the liberal progressive agenda than they were of Donald Trump. The heart of the progressive agenda was on full display at the women's march that was held on January 21, 2017, as they marched for the death of the weakest in our society.

In the name of freedom of choice they campaigned to take away the choice of other people. Hypocrisy is nothing new, but it is staggering how blinding it can be. It is sad to see the number of people who don't bother to take the time to investigate another point of view. Unfortunately, this seems to be the majority of people which is scary, but not unexpected. Mass destruction of human beings always depends on the ignorance and apathy of the masses.

The rise of communism in Russia came with the promise of a Utopian society but became known by the Gulag. Progressives seemingly unaware of history or unable to see themselves in it are rushing to the same demise of a government controlled society.

Frank Bruni, writing for the New York Times illustrates this when he writes, "I support the right of people to believe what they do and say what they wish — in their pews, homes and hearts." This view corresponds eerily with communist Russia, "The only church remaining was that church which, in accordance with the Scriptures, lay within the heart (The Gulag Archipelago, pg. 342)."

The civil rights commission ruled against Jack Phillips a baker in Colorado who refused to bake a cake for a gay wedding. In its decision, it required, "Phillips to submit quarterly reports for two years that show how he has worked to change discriminatory practices by altering company policies and training employees. Phillips also must disclose the names of any clients who are turned away." This is essentially the beginnings of a public show trial. Those who deviate from the social orthodoxy must publicly renounce their error as well as undergo reeducation.

Reminiscent of the thought police in George Orwell's book 1984, Chip and Joanna Gaines were attacked by BuzzFeed for going to a church that affirms the Biblical position of sexuality. Once again we see seeds of communist Russia where intent was identical to action. It wasn't enough to do the "right" thing, everybody also had to think and say the "right" thing.

Liberal Progressives are once again promising a Utopian classless society where everyone is equal, but should we trust them and will things really be equal? Will a movement that uses violence against 60 million babies and does not allow different beliefs be different than the communists of Russia? The answer should be evident to all and regardless of our persuasions we should resist it. As the old adage goes, "those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it."

The election of Donald Trump was a reaction to the violence, discrimination, and oppression by the liberal progressives. Their behaviour after the election has only confirmed what many people feared. In a world without God, there is only one mechanism of revolution and that is violence.

Come, Lord Jesus! The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen.
