Liberal Totalitarian Religion

Millennials will be the first generation that will actually have consequences for their faith in Jesus Christ. In the not so distant future, nobody in their right mind will loosely associate with Christianity since it will affect their bank account and their status in society. Those who truly believe will risk being called bigoted, ignorant, hateful, and many other things. Our society is changing before our eyes and it is not for the better. This week there were two events in the news that show what is happening.

The Appeal Court of B.C. ruled in favour of Trinity Western, a Christian school seeking accreditation for its law school. In its decision the court outlined clearly what is really at stake:
A society that does not admit of and accommodate differences cannot be a free and democratic society — one in which its citizens are free to think, to disagree, to debate and to challenge the accepted view without fear of reprisal
This case demonstrates that a well-intentioned majority acting in the name of tolerance and liberalism can, if unchecked, impose its views on the minority in a manner that is in itself intolerant and illiberal.
We can see that the liberal totalitarian religion is trying to impose its views on everybody else. They believe they are the enlightened people and everybody else needs to be forced in line. Thankfully these judges made the right decision. Unfortunately, this is only a ray of light in the dark clouds of this new religion. Airbnb recently came out with the following statement in their community commitment.
You commit to treat everyone—regardless of race, religion, national origin, ethnicity, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or age—with respect, and without judgment or bias.
The problem with this statement is that it is trying to enforce a world view. It is not just about treating people fairly, but it is about thinking the way they want you to. Judgment and bias are thoughts, not concrete actions. Can anybody say Thought Police? All Christians need to read 1984 by George Orwell since what he wrote is now coming to pass.

In the future, will millennials need to sign employment contracts that affirm they think the right thing? Will corporations make you sign statements that affirm that you think the right way? Wait! that is already happening...
