Dividing Line

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and shrewd in their own sight! Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine and valiant men in mixing strong drink, who acquit the guilty for a bribe, and deprive the innocent of his right! Therefore, as the tongue of fire devours the stubble, and as dry grass sinks down in the flame, so their root will be as rottenness, and their blossom go up like dust; for they have rejected the law of the LORD of hosts, and have despised the word of the Holy One of Israel (Is. 5:20-24).
Yesterday, the supreme court of the United States of America struck down the definition of marriage for all 50 states of being between a man and a woman. This has brought to the forefront a dividing line between Christians and non-Christians. Anybody who claims the name of Christ cannot support the decision of court, if they do, it is clear that they are not what they claim.

Christianity is based on God's Word, which we find written in the Bible. Without the Bible we are left to our own opinions and nature, which may be right or wrong, but we have no way of knowing God. The Bible and nature are clear regarding sexual relations with the same sex.
For this reason God gave them up to dishonourable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error (Rom. 1:26-27).
Also, It is obvious, due to the design of the human body, that sexual relations are to be between a man and a woman. God has revealed clearly that same-sex sexual relationships are dishonourable and contrary to nature, which means they are sinful.

To deny this fact is to call evil good and good evil and to make God a liar. Those who accept the courts decision are saying that God is a liar and those who practice same-sex sexual relations are not sinning. However, God's Word is clear:
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and His word is not in us (1 John 1:8-10).
There are only two options for people who say that God does not condemn same-sex relationships: They need to ignore God's Word or they need to be ignorant of God's Word. In either case they don't really want to know God (unless they are a new Christians, who simply has not been taught), they want to be like God.
If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him (John 14:15-17).
You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to Him (Romans 8:9).
There is no middle ground and there is no third way, it is time for people to chose where they really stand:
Now therefore fear the LORD and serve Him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt and serve the LORD. And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD (Josh. 24:14-15).

  1. This post was written with the opinion of the court in mind, which made it clear that this decision was based on what they believed to be "morally" right. The legal decision is a separate matter, where I agree with the dissents. Chief Justice Roberts summed up the opinion of the court well when he said:

The majority’s decision is an act of will, not legal judgment. The right it announces has no basis in the Constitution or this Court’s precedent. The majority expressly disclaims judicial “caution” and omits even a pretense of humility, openly relying on its desire to remake society
according to its own “new insight” into the “nature of injustice.” Ante, at 11, 23. As a result, the Court invalidates the marriage laws of more than half the States and orders the transformation of a social institution that has formed the basis of human society for millennia, for the Kalahari Bushmen and the Han Chinese, the Carthaginians and the Aztecs. Just who do we think we are?
