There are some times in life where you just cannot be silent. The video below is disturbing and cannot be ignored.

Popular media has largely been ignoring this whole trial, which begs the question, why? I don't want to try and guess the reasons why, but the answer may shed some light on the current culture wars in the United States. Killing a baby just before they are born is wrong. The fact that it seems to matter whether it was outside the women's body or not is irrelevant. How can we react with joy when we hear of a new child that is born, yet affirm that somebody has the decision to take the same life away only minutes before? This is insanity. If we are objective, we will admit that we support the killing of innocent people, or we will affirm that we are wrong and will change course. Here are some questions that anybody who supports abortion needs to ask themselves:
1. Is a baby a human being only when it is born? 2. Is a baby a human being 5 minutes before it is born? 4…

Freedom of Thought

There has been a tidal wave of support for gay marriage in recent months in the United States. Many people have made public stands and promote the idea of "being on the right side of history." This support has coincided with two cases, Proposition 8 and DOMA (Defence of Marriage Act), that are now before the United States Supreme Court. "Prop 8 was the California ballot referendum passed in November 2008 that banned same-sex marriage, reversing by popular vote the state Supreme Court's decision just months earlier to recognize marriage equality." "DOMA is a United States federal law that restricts federal marriage benefits and required inter-state marriage recognition to only opposite-sex marriages in the United States. The law passed both houses of Congress by large majorities and was signed into law by President Bill Clinton on September 21, 1996."

Ultimately these cases are not about gay marriage, they are about civil rights. Gay marriage is not a …

Unlikely Leadership

Everybody wants to be a leader, but very few people are leaders. Leaders by definition have followers but having followers does not mean you are a leader. There are leaders because of their position and there are leaders because they lead. Leadership is not something that is taught but is a natural gift. Leaders can be taught to be better leaders but someone who is not a leader cannot be made to be a leader.

I grew up a shy kid who was scared to call his friends. I was terrified that the person may not want to talk to me and it paralyzed me. I was not exactly leadership material, but as time progressed I came to the realization that I was leader, whether I liked it or not. I don't like being treated like a follower and I don't like it when other people are treated like followers. People calling themselves mentors make me cringe even though people would call me a mentor. If I am in a big group of people, I am more likely to be silent and go off on my own. I don't enjoy bein…

Ask for Wisdom

God tells us to ask for wisdom and it will be given to us. "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him (James 1:5)." Here is some wisdom for the book of Proverbs.

A wise person understands that they could be wrong and listens to others for advice. "The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice (Prov. 12:15)."A wise person understands that unchallenged opinions often seem right. It is important to hear both sides of the issue before making a judgment. "The one who states his case first seems right, until the other comes and examines him (Prov. 18:17)."A wise person loves discipline because he knows it will give him more understanding. "Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is stupid (Prov. 12:1)."A wise person listens to a rebuke even if it is not delivered the way he would like it. He looks at it as a way to learn i…

Don't be a Fool!

The breakdown of the family in Western culture has displayed itself in numerous ways. Perhaps the most telling of them all is the lack of respect and love of children toward their parents. Good parents are a gift from God.

How do you know if you are fool? If you bring sorrow to your mother, despise your mother, or cause your mother bitterness.
A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish son is a sorrow to his mother (Prov. 10:1).
A foolish son is a grief to his father and bitterness to her who bore him (Prov. 17:25).
A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish man despises his mother (Prov. 15:20). Your mother is the one who bore you. She spent around 9 months of her life carrying you in her body. Her whole life is put on hold so that she can bring you into the world. She then feeds you and cares for you until you are old enough to fend for yourself. If you don't respect your mother, then who is worthy of respect? Only a fool would not be able to see the sacrifices of a mothe…

Adultery Dating

Anything you do with your girlfriend or boyfriend before marriage is cheating on your husband or wife, even if you marry the person. There are certain things that are only reserved for marriage and they should be treated that way.

Your body is the only unique gift that you can give someone that nobody else can. This does not just apply to sexual acts but also applies to viewing. Displaying your body, clothed or not, to other people is also taking away from something that is for your husband's or wife's enjoyment. If everybody knows what your body looks like, there is not much left for your husband or wife to discover. If you are the one doing the looking there is no more mystery to your husband's or wife's body only comparison.

Saving your body as a gift for your husband or wife is an expression of love that nobody else can give, and makes it easy for that person to trust you wholeheartedly. Giving your life for the sake of someone else is recognized as a heroic act. …

What is truth? Truth is reality. It is not what we think is real or what we want to be real but what is really real. We need truth, because without it we are lost, stuck in the jungle of our collective thoughts without a machete to cut through the undergrowth.

The first thing we need to understand about truth is that it is objective but knowing it is subjective. This nuance seems to be obscured in the dense underbrush of our current western culture. Our actions and beliefs are inextricably intertwined in a bi-directional relationship. What we believe guides our actions, but how we act guides our beliefs. The best way to get someone to change their beliefs is to get them to act in contradiction to it, because most people would rather change their beliefs then be hypocritical. However, truth is not a branch of belief, but belief is a branch connected to the trunk of truth. There is either a God or not a God but it can't be both ways. It does not matter what any individual believes i…
